How to measure your bathroom for a vanity
A vanity has to fit the wall, clear the plumbing, and leave room for the door and toilet. Here's how to capture all of that in a few measurements so we can build a free 3D design and an exact quote.

Measure the vanity wall
Measure the full width of the wall the vanity will sit against, in inches, from corner to corner or from the wall to the edge of the doorway/shower. This is the hard limit your vanity has to fit inside. Note it on a quick sketch.

Check the depth you can give up
Measure how far the vanity can project into the room without blocking the door swing, shower or toilet clearance. Standard vanities are about 21″ deep; floating and shallow builds can go less. Make sure a person can still stand comfortably in front.

Locate the plumbing
Mark the height and horizontal position of the drain and water supply lines coming out of the wall or floor, measured from the corner and from the floor. This decides whether a standard cabinet clears the plumbing or needs a notch, and where the sink can sit.

Mark the doorway, toilet and obstructions
Note the distance from the vanity wall to the toilet, the door and its swing, and any window, radiator or light switch. Leave at least a few inches between the vanity edge and the toilet so both are usable.

Decide single vs double
A single-sink vanity suits widths up to about 48″; plan a double-sink run from roughly 60″ of clear wall. If you want a floating (wall-mounted) vanity, also note where the studs are for the mounting cleat.

What are standard bathroom vanity dimensions?
The standard footprint is about 36″ wide × 21″ deep × 34½″ high. Single-sink vanities run up to about 48″ wide; double-sink vanities typically start around 60″ and go to 72″. Floating vanities mount to the wall studs and let you choose the height.
How wide does a double-sink vanity need to be?
Plan on at least 60″ of clear wall for a comfortable double-sink layout — that gives each basin enough room and counter space between them. 72″ is roomier. Below 60″, a single sink with more counter usually works better.
How much do RTA vanities cost?

Can the cabinet work around my existing plumbing?
